Ripple (Western Sound Original with APM Studios)

Ripple” is a new investigative podcast from Western Sound and APM Studios that returns to the scene of major events to discover the long-term impacts that have been raging, unnoticed, for years.

The narrative documentary series takes a longform look at one historic event each season, demonstrating the lasting impact on people who continue to fight for their communities after the public’s attention has moved on.

In Season 1, host Dan Leone travels across the Gulf Coast of the United States to document the ongoing effects of the 2010 Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill – which are still impacting many coastal residents more than a decade later.

The largest oil spill in American history captivated the public’s attention for the entire summer of 2010. Authorities told a story of a herculean response effort that made shorelines safe and avoided a worst case scenario. Was that what really happened? Through the voices of people who lived through the oil spill, the aftermath and the cleanup – and are still living with the consequences – Leone will reveal another story: the way BP and the authorities cleaned up one disaster may have caused another.
