Western Sound is a Los Angeles-based podcast production company.

We create original podcasts with a heavy emphasis on story — both episodic and serialized, long-form, narrative storytelling.

Western Sound is led by Peabody Award-winning journalist, entrepreneur and podcaster Ben Adair.

Established 2018, Western Sound has created our own original, #1 hits like Strangeland and Lost Hills. We’ve produced #1 hits for clients like The Los Angeles Times‘ The Trials of Frank Carson. We’ve done scripted shows like Smartr for Conan O’Brien’s Team Coco Productions, TV and movie companion pods, heist pods, and we even made a podcast musical.

Our most recent awards are two 2020 Webbies for our original show The Bank Robbery Diaries, and for ESPN’s The Sterling Affairs.

Previous to founding Western Sound, Adair created, executive produced or otherwise helped launch six top-ten hits, including Doctor Death (#1),  Dirty John (#1), American History Tellers (#1), Young Charlie (#1), A Piece of Work (#2), and John August’s Launch (#9).

Adair won a Peabody Award for the very first episode of Reveal, the hit investigative reporting podcast he created in 2013 for the Center for Investigative Reporting. The Western Sound team has racked up LA Press Club Awards, Edward Murrow Awards (both regional and national), and, even more importantly, hundreds of millions of downloads.
